Positive vibes

I have just come out of hospital after a mastectomy and wanted to share my feelings with all who may be facing the same/similar.
I know everyone's experiences will be different but I hope that mine will give people hope.
I had my surgery on Wednesday afternoon and although very low blood pressure, after drinking loads and getting my BP up to 100, I have been allowed home. Yes I'm sore and moving is a bit slow but I've managed to get myself washed and dressed. I've done my exercises and will continue to as they do seem to help to feel more relaxed. Coming round from the surgery was ok, make sure you try and eat, walk, drink as soon as you can as this does help too. I had the most enjoyable walk to the hospital shop and bought chocolate to reward myself!
The fact that I now only have 1 breast instead of 2 hasn't bothered me as I thought it would. Yes I look different and at the moment I'm covered in dressings and maybe I will feel different as the months progress but for now, the hope is that my cancer has been removed.

The drain is a nuisance admittedly to keep carrying around but wear loose clothing and long tops which help to hide it from people who may be a bit squeamish! Overall don't stop going out in public - just keep safe and not in over crowded places where you could be knocked into or pick up a bug.

Stay positive people and don't let the big C rule you! Xx
