Breast cancer radiotherapy and after wards

It's been two weeks since I finished radiotherapy after going through lumpectomy in February.I was doing ok up until a couple of days ago and now  I feel tired and very emotinal . I am struggling to sleep and everyone tells me I look dreadful. I have just started taking leterozole too. Wasn't expecting to feel so emotional as I thought I had moved past that stage . I am getting sharp pains in my breast and tenderness around wound area. Is all of this normal ?

  • Hi. I had lumpectomy in February also and radiotherapy in March. Finished it 7 weeks ago.  I still get sharp stabbing pains and a dull ache and heat sensation in my breast.   Saw my oncologist just over a week ago and he said it's normal.  Some women get these sensations after radiotherapy though he said no one was sure why.  He said they could last three months plus. I've not had a proper night sleep since my surgery. I just nap when I can   I have good days and bad days

with my emotions.    But it is getting better. It just takes time.  Allow your body to guide you.  If you need to sleep then sleep.  If you want to cry then cry.  That's what I do.  I'm just taking each day as it comes.  Xxx

  • Thanks so much for this . X
