Man boobs from hormone therapy

Hi again folks, long story short, ive been on hormone therapy  'bicalutamide and tamoxifen' for over 2 yrs after recieving 5 weeks of radiotherapy for stage 3a prostate cancer, thankfully my psa has fallen drastically and my cancer team felt that i could come off the hormones ' thank goodness' . I've grown a nice pert pair of man boobs which are sore and i was just wondering if they'll go down after time or are they here to stay. I'm so grateful that the treatment ive recieved has been brilliant and if they are here to stay then so be it, small price to pay under the circumstances.

  • I would guess they'll go down in time as your hormone levels are no longer being interfered with.  I know Tamoxifen lowers oestrogen levels and effects and see that Bicalutamide blocks the effects of testosterone.  I looked up the Bicalutamide and it actually states This medicine may cause swelling of the breasts (gynecomastia) and breast pain in some patients.  Hopefully being off the drugs will reverse the effects.  Good luck!

  • Thank you very much for the reply, your probabl right that they will get back to some normality sometime, but if they dont then they dont, very small price to pay to be honesr. Again Thank you.

  • Hi it is possible the flesh and muscles have stretched slightly so you could be left with smaller boobs,

I went on stronger hormone therapy (enzalutamide)they give to men who want a sex change, my wife got jealous as mine were bigger than hers, I've since stopped those meds and they have shrink but not completely gone after 3 months, but like you im happy to be alive. Take care with your future and hope you have a long and good journey.
