Hi I finished my treatment for tonsil cancer back in July 2021 I have a rig fitted to aid my nutrition. My problem is I can't eat still and struggle to get food down unless with lots of water. Also my mouth burns with certain foods is anyone else suffering with this.

  • Hello Gelly

I'm sorry to hear that you're still struggling after completing your treatment back in July last year. we've quite a number of members here on the forum who have been through treatment for tonsil/throat cancers and I know that many of them have mentioned the same kinds of problems that you have.

I'd suggest having a look at this thread and posting a message. I'm sure that some of them will pop along and share their experiences with you.

You might also want to use the forum search function to look for a member called [@RadioactiveRaz]‍. Hazel is a few years post-treatment for tonsil cancer now and has written a blog which I know many people have found to be very helpful. She's shared lots of tips and advice in her responses and in the blog.

I do hope that over the coming month's things settle and improve for you.

    Best wishes,

  • My brother had tonsil cancer 3 years ago. His saliva glands are damaged so now he has to have a drink to wash food down. He can't eat a lot of things now like curry, pies, rolls. He can only eat rice or potatoes if theyre covered in gravy. He cant eat most pastry items
