bra fitting before and after breast surgery

facing mastectomy and reconstruction surgery back in December, I went to a "well know high st bra supplier" to get fitted, was advised to get a bigger size to cope with post op swelling, and also to get some extender straps for the back fastenings. Glad I did, and very comfy the two bras have proved to be, the fitters got me a good fit,  but oh, did I get bored with not having anything "pretty" to wear,

So today, bored rigid with just having the option of same bra in black or white, for three months,  just plain comfy and  practical, and facing an upcoming party, I took myself back for a "refit", and the fitter was even better than last time. She had been through surgery herself, and clearly, her knowledge and understanding informs her approach, Ive come home delighted with a nifty, pretty "set", and tried and got her to write down details of another one I intend to treat myself to once I get past the outpatient appointment with my surgeon next month.  The fit is far better post op than Ive had with previous preop pre reconstruction bras, it takes my prosthesis without any hassle, and is comfortable. Its also cotton so if I get hot flushes it should still be comfy, and theres no wires to irritate my scars.  And I got a discount! Other bra suppliers are available, but hope you can guess the stores initials if you need to go bra hunting.

  • I'm really glad you've managed to get some pretty bras. It really does make a difference when you're wearing something that makes you feel good and I'm sure our members will really appreciate you sharing your experience with us.

I hope all goes well with your upcoming outpatients appointment and you enjoy getting that next bra ;)
