Skin Cream

Hey.

I had my first chemotherapy last week and have been very lucky with side effects etc, I am suffering terribly with dry itchy painful cracked skin I have been to see the district nurses and prescribed a medical ceam

for the broken area but I am wondering if I can get some advise on skin cream people have/are using to prevent any other skin breakdown and to keep it from being itchy and dry?

  • Hello, I am sorry to read about your skin, I am starting chemo soon and read on another forum that " udderly smooth" is good and so have ordered a batch from Amazon....was told to slather it on throughout the day on hands and feet, then wear soft cotton gloves in bed...

i am glad to hear the other side effects have been minimal as I am imagining I will be a heaving wreak on the bathroom floor vomiting in the toilet! Xxxx

  • thank you so much for replying to me I’ll be looking that up and ordering some to try.

I suffered no nausea at all or sickness just take your anti sickness medication before you feel sick and your be fine fingers crossed. All I found was 2 days after chemotherapy I was very tired for a day or two and then back to my normal self again if only I could wish this for every time I am feeling next time I’ll be hit with it all for being so damn lucky this time.

What chemotherapry will you be having? X

  • I will know everything tomorrow at my appointment with oncologist. All I know is it's 4 months in 3 weekly cycles.....what you on?

I will take every anti sickness pill going! Are you working? I read one Woman managed to keep on with work throughout....how the hell??

Is your next batch in 3 weeks? I hope and pray you find it the same as this one...xxx

  • I am having accelerated EC chemo every 2 weeks for 3 cycles and still awaiting my HER2 result back to know what my next course of treatment will be but I have been told it will be every 3 weeks after so hopefully beginning of may it will all be over with chemo. My next one is Valentine’s Day:(

Are you having a PICC line fitted to make things easier?

I am not currently working as I work in health care all over north east Hampshire so driving and going in and out peoples homes the risk of infection is very high for me and fatigue and driving wouldn’t be possible.

If things are that bad sickness wise I was informed I could call the oncologist hotline for advise on it. X

  • I I wish we could fast forward this year....will you then need radiotherapy?

I will have whatever makes things easier....how are you getting on with yours?

I have warned work I may be out of action for a while, they have been brilliant, I am pretty lucky on that score....

    xxxx

  • I am not sure what the plan is for radiotherapy I am still awaiting results back from genetic testing to determine my surgery I’ll be needing, if the results come back clear I am hoping just a normal lumpectomy but if I am carrying a BRCA1 I will have to have a double mastectomy.

I am happy to have anything also to make this easy as possible being only 30 I never imagined I would be living life fighting cancer when I should be enjoying myself planning children etc, that might not happen now either

my PICC Line and me have fallen out on a few occasions it’s taken me a lot of getting used 2 being there and I suffered a lot of bruising with it being fitted and that’s still present a week after having it but thankfully it’s settling down now.

My work place has been excellent and said for me to go back when I am fit and ready. I am currently signed off by my GP for the foreseeable.

I have ordered some of that cream also so thank you. X

  • I pray your results come back clear. And I pray you have a lumpectomy, mine was very straight forward.

We are on a rocky road but we will soldier on and get through it....keep posting....I am interested to see how your getting on xxxx

  • Thank you very much.

I really hope tomorrow is good for you. Please always message me etc if I can be of any help 2 u at all. Xx

  • Thank you and I defo will....I am trying not to turn into a chemo stalker lol! But I find everyone's advise and experience invaluable...xxxx

  • Haha I think everyone has done the same thing I know I did. Xx
