Want to holiday between chemo and surgery

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone has holidayed abroad between chemo and surgery and, if so, what insurance they got.

I have 14 days leave from work to take before the end of the year.  I finish chemo early October and surgery will be mid-November at the earliest.  My husband’s uncle lives in DC but can’t travel due to MS. His health has declined a lot and we would like to go visit him as otentially he could be gone before I finish my next round of chemo/radiotherapy.

As it stands I’m not ill. I have coped very well with chemo. I cannot think of anything that could happen to me health wise that would be related to the cancer (it can’t grow enough in that time to make me ill) but wonder if a travel insurance company are sensible enough to see it like that?

Has anyone done this?

  • Hi there ..

After my mastectomy, last July I wanted xmas in Florida.. couldn't get insurance anywhere, unless we payed thousands ... so I felt fine, so got insurance for normal accidents, but not anything cancer related .. so I took that chance .. knowing the first sign of problems, I'd jump back on a plain home ...

It's really hard and really expensive... hope someone else can give you more info ... chrissie x
