Advice appreciated

I'm 46 years old and was diagnosed in December with invasive mucinous carcinoma. This came completely out of the blue. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on 15th January where 2 nodes were taken. Both were clear luckily. I then had a Licap reconstruction on 22nd January. I've started on Tamoxifen 11 days ago and am due to start 15 sessions of radiotherapy towards the end of March. I'm battling 2 things at the moment - the first is tiredness after the operations.  It's 6 weeks since the second op and I still can't do much before I'm really tired. I'm nowhere near being able to work again (I'm a dog groomer). Is this normal? I'm also getting side effects from the Tamoxifen of nausea, dizziness and recently a rash around my scar from my second op. Has anyone got any suggestions to help with this? Feeling a bit down and worried my tiredness is only going to get worse with the radiotherapy. I'm self employed and want to get back to work! Thanks in advance ...

  • Mine is practicaly the same as yours. Im 47 for now lol, my oncologist did a dexa scan and blood tests to see how the tamoxifen was affecting me and the results were enough to take me off it,chemo had pushed me through the menopause so now im on letrozole. Much the same as tamoifen really but i don't get the bone pain as severe now

  • Hi elaineo2 thanks for your reply. It's nice to be in touch with someone who has gone through very similar. I'll ask my consultant whether they will test to see what effect the Tamoxifen is having on me and if so when. I have to say I'm reluctantly taking it at the moment. I've been lucky that I haven't needed chemo just the radiotherapy. I hope that you're on the better side now xx
