I am sorry to hear about your husband and understand what a worrying time this is for you both.  Pauline is right, the McMillan nurses (normally located at your local hospital) are really helpful regarding benefits etc.  Also Citizens Advice will help you fill in forms if you ring them to make an appointment.  Good luck with everything - let us know how you are getting on x

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I see you have already received some very good advice from Max and Pauline. We also have some information on financial support here which may be helpful to you. It mentions as Max said that you can contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) and their advisors can help with filling out benefit forms.

As Pauline and Max have said contact Mcmillan.

My Macmillan nurse gave me the number of the person they have working in the Citizens Advice office which is located in our local hospital.  He asked me questions and filled in the application form for Personel Independant Payment (PIP) and sent that off.  He also advised me about Employment support allowance (what was sick pay) and although I had to fill that form in myself he helped with that and sent addition information from the Consultant to support my claim - all with my permission of course.

If you husband is over pensionable age then you would be applying for attendance allowance.

Some Hospitals have a Mcmillan's office or help bureau which you can just drop infor help and advice.

I also spoke with someone from the department for work and pensions (number on the web site) who went through one of the forms I received from them.
