Your GP or chemo team can prescribe meds to help with this common side effect. I have Ibotene and Nystan suspension and start using it the day after infusion rather than when symptoms start and have a bit of a grip. Good Oral hygiene is really necessary. There are antibiotics that really help in bad cases but I am away from home and can't remember the name of them - Fluocycillin rings a bell - your GP will know but he/she must check with the oncologist that they don't interact with your chemo drugs because there are a couple that they affect. Antiseptic pastilles ease the pain too. Best of luck x

Hi Nicole .... I have stage 4 breast cancer. Was on chemotherapy in 2007 after initial diagnosis and have now been on it constantly since about June 2012 when I was told I had secondary disease - so I have learned to control the side effects pretty well by now. Hope your treatment is going well x
I have found baking soda either rinse as a mouth wsdh or to use as a toothpaste dilute into a paste put on with a cotton bud wait until pain as gone repeat when required.
