I am desperate to see what financial help there is . I was working on a supply contract when this all started , been told not to work as immune system is down . Is there anyghing I can claim to help us through this time ?
If you've been assigned a McMillan nurse at your hospital ask them. They can advise you and help you with form filling, answering the questions in such a way that you may actually stand a chance of getting some help. I did it on my own, probably didnt answer the questions right and got no help at all, I relied on savings to live for 6 months, when I was incapable of doing much. Apparently you are fit for work whilst recovering from cancer surgery, undergoing radiotherapy and rapidly losing weight. You might get PIPS if you get the questions right, I believe you can get a one off hardship grant from McMillan but I was too proud to rob this excellent charity of its funds. Having cancer hits you in many ways.
