nystan suspension

How necessary is this stuff really? I have been given it for prevention of oral thrush, but I really can't stomach it and have just thrown up attempting to take it.

I'll speak to the pharmacist at my next chemo appt in 2 weeks and just have to go without until then I think or pick my moments carefully.

Any advice from anyone on this?

  • Hello Reb82,

Sorry to hear that you're struggling with being able to take nystan. Hopefully one of our other community members will be able to offer some tips or advice around this problem.

You might like to also speak to one of our nurses to see if they can offer any advice before your next chemo appointment. You can either post in our Ask the Nurses topic area or you can call them Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free from a UK landline).

    Best wishes,

Hi Reb ...... I use Nystan and actually quite like the taste of it! You dont 'take' it as such, just spread it onto and under your tongue, and around your gums.  There is alternative medication that does the same job in tablet form - so maybe you should call your GP or oncology team to get a different prescription.  Hope the chemo is going well x
