DANCE FOR LIFE

MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE A DANCE FOR LIFE FOR THOSE OF US WHO CANT RUN AND LOVE DANCING, DANCING CAN INCLUDE EVERYONE BECAUSE IT CAN BE DONE STANDING, FROM A CHAIR OR A WHEELCHAIR. AND WE COULD ALL DO AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS OUR DEGREE OF HEALTH WOULD ALLOW !!!!!!!! WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ????

  • Hi Lynn

How are you doing? Did you have a nice holiday. Hope it did you good and took some of your stresses away hun,

    .

    Love Von xxxx

  • Hi Von,

Thanks, yes I think my break away did me some good, just having my meals made for me, no house work for a week, and to top it off the sun shone all week!!!

Hope you are feeling ok too, take care,

    Lynn x

  • I totally agree with you maybe we should start a cancer dance group up with all the difficulties being able to join in

  • Got the music, got the DJs, need a venue and some energy to get it organised, chemo really knocked me for six this time, thinking of having a break to get well again and get some hair back

    xx

  • Hi Von,

Great to hear from you, sorry the chemo's a bit rough on you at the mo, I'm ready to 'boogie on down' when you are, hope you find that energy soon, yes maybe a break would do you the world of good, take care & best wishes,

    Lynn x

  • Thanks hun, Ive had to come off it,just had the worst five weeks of my life, the side effects nearly killed me, and Im still struggling with them, they have stopped it now, and Im supposed to start it in tablet form next week, Im terrified because its my 3rd attempt at a different chemo and my 4th including the hormone treatment, also had another bone treatment which has its own side effects, the treatment is worse for me than the illness at the moment, thats why I havent been on here much and to top it all I broke my big toe on holiday which needs operating on but cant risk skin break with chemo so I have a plaster caste on, so hobbling round, lifes been pretty uncomfortable to say the least. Hope you are well.

    xx

  • Hi Von,

I`m glad to hear that you`re back with us,you`ve such a colourful way of expressing yourself this site just wouldn`t be the same without you.I had the bone treatment with my last lot of chemo it wiped me out for nearly a week & it`s made me really emotional I cry at the drop of a hat.Poor you breaking your toe,did you contact anyone regarding your DANCE FOR LIFE idea? sounds brill I`ve not got the first idea about how to start organising something like that, but as I work with Adults with L/D I`m sure someone I work with will be more than willing to point me in the right direction who knows they may even get involved themselves.

Take Care Love & Hugs Kathryn xx

  • Hi Kathryn

You sound like your having a rough time too with the treatment, which chemo are you on? My 3rd attempt next week, they are going to try Xeloda tablet form as i have been really poorly with the other two, abraxane was the worst for me, I lost my will to live when on it.

As for the Dance for life, I have got DJ's and my friend has got offers of two gifts to auction already, I have had lots of offers from friends and family to help organise it, I just need to start this new chemo and see what my energy levels are like with it, as I have been wiped out lately and Im just starting to pick up again, then i will try to get it organised. I need to get in touch with charity to set it up properly, but I will need to be well to put my heart into it so I will see how i get on and then throw myself into it. Good luck with you if you organise one too.

    Love Von xxxxx

  • Hi Von,

Sorry to hear you have been proper poorly on the chemo, and a broken toe is b***dy painful. The chemo they are trying next with you, is the one I only managed one course of back in beginning of 2008. Hope it goes well for you, could be a walk in the park compared to what you have suffered with the others, PM me if you like if you need to compare notes at all. Best wishes Von, and stop kicking him out of bed to make the tea, you will only hurt your toe again.

  • Hi Von,

I`m on gemcarbo(chemo)& zoledronate(for bones)I wish I could just get rid of the feeling of sickness, although I have tried stem ginger (it`s hot tasting & it works for a few hrs at a time but the sugar plays havoc with digestive system)

As regards your toe (ouch!!)play on it & get as much pampering done as you can stand or lay down for with your foot up.My part in a dance for life will have to be once Ive finished the chemo as I can`t be in contact with the people I work with,it`s been the worst weeks ever for me as I`m an outgoing type & have found the boredom really hard to take as all my family live away & all my friends are still at work, roll on 3 wks, when I`ve done with this first lot of chemo,I`ll not know where to go to as I`ve had to rely on my husband, son or daughter in law to take me out in the car it`ll be nice to be able to do those things for myself.               Take care

    Love Kathryn xx
