Sarcoma Surgery and treatment/ money worries

Hi all, hope your all ok :)

Im Maz 44

I got diagnosed last week with grade 1 sarcoma to my front thigh. I’m looking at radiotherapy and surgery soon (yet to find out if all CT and MRI for rest of body clear). Just find it all very overwhelming. My specialist told me not to bang it as it’s encapsulated, this has caused me to not go to work (support aggressive autism for agency) I’m just wandering what support I can get until I find some less physical work. I don’t know if I’m be able to drive? Walk? Just no idea until Thursday when I get another face to face appointment. Has anyone had similar experiences please?

Thankyou

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat forum Mazdon, although I'm sorry to hear you've recently been diagnosed with a grade 1 sarcoma.

We have some information about treatment for sarcoma and the financial support you may be entitled to on our website but Macmillan and Citizen's Advice may be able to offer further information and advice about the benefits you may be able to claim as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have either had sarcoma and/or knowledge about applying for benefits will share their tips and advice with you soon but in the meantime, I'm wishing you all the best for tomorrow. I hope you're able to get some much needed answers and reassurance about what's to come.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
