I have held an annual travel insurance policy with Aviva organised through my Barclays Bank account. It costs £14:50 a month to cover me and my wife. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer locally advanced in July and we had already booked a holiday to India for November. I notified Aviva of my diagnosis but they would not cover me for any cancer-related claims, but are happy to continue the cover as per usual. I can’t envisage any cancer related treatment I may need on holiday and the holiday is highly unlikely to be cancelled due to cancer treatment. I’m on hormone drugs at present and due to start radiotherapy in December. My question is, ‘Is it necessary to pay a small fortune for holiday insurance if I’m ok with not being covered for cancer-related claims?”
