Free legal support for employment issues

Hi all,

Im about to start my journey through the employment tribunal after taking a claim of discrimination (amongst others) against my ex employer, this was due to issues surrounding my treatment and sick leave whilst suffering with bowel cancer.

It is a daunting process, and my anxiety is through the roof! I’ve managed to get myself to this point (preliminary hearing), but the stress it’s caused trying to understand the law etc and what I’m doing is mad.

my question, is anyone aware of any free legal support for someone in my situation, other than the standard CAB? I’ve spoken to Macmillian and emailed a charity a while back but got no response.

after resignation, sick pay, and taking a new job at a substantially lower salary, I just can’t afford any professional legal advice.

thanks in advance for any suggestions :0)

  • Hi BigG82  I don't know if you are using ACAS.  They give free impartial advice and lots more.  If you just google it they will come up.  Do you also need help with benefit advice or just help with legal support?

  • Hey, thanks for the response, so yeah, ACAS have been involved, there is a requirement to use them on route to an employment tribunal, but there’re legal support is limited in scope, and aren’t able to offer much in support of the specific claims etc, more about timelines and the legal framework in order to bring in to the tribunal.

im back in work now, albeit at a far lower salary, so I’m not worried about benefit advice in particular thank you, just legal support :0)
