I'm sorry you're having trouble getting an affordable quote for your travel insurance Drisc.

I regularly use an insurer called insurancewith.com who specialise in people with illness including cancer.

I have no relationship with this company.

It was set up by someone with cancer who was appalled at the quotes from high street insurers.

The quote is done online and they ask a whole lot of pertinent questions relating to your illness.

I used to have to pay several hundred pounds.

But a recent 6 day trip to Switzerland cost me just £90.00 by comparison my healthy other half paid £25.00.

This happened to me I paid 200 for a week in canaries last week

There are other older posts on this forum which list several companies specialising in insurance for those of us living with cancer. It is worth shopping around.

I think the regular travel insurance companies do not want the bother of providing a proper quote and just quote a silly high price to deter us or if we accept the over-inflated quote are happy to take the money.

I had half my left lung removed and found it hard to even get a qoute for a 12 night cruise in the end it cost me £967 ouch! they did say it would reduce once the 12 month annaversory of my op had pasted gla

Yes it does reduce in price as time progresses and you are in better health.

However companies like insurancewith.com calculate exact risk by asking a lot of questions about your health. They do all the questions online occasionallly if it really is too complicated they will ask you to call direct. Regarding privacy none of your information is stored until you accept the quote for your journey.

My travel to Switzerland to visit relatives was costing several hundred pounds for a week until I got a quote with the above for £90 other countries its a bit less. My healthy OH pays about 30% of my quotes.

Hello there , I have just finished chemo ,after bilateral mastectomies and want to travel . I think your best bet is to phone insurance companies and ask for a quote instead of doing it online . I managed to get an annual policy for two people for £270 , this was Saga , but the Post Office and some banks are pretty reasonable too . Just make sure ,you declare everything, good luck  

Hello I used admiral had 1 year cover for both me and hubby for less than £100 I had breast cancer last year it was the cheapest one I found and I searched high and low
