Breast cancer weird blood results

Feeling a bit overwhelmed 

pre surgery bloods lymphocytes were below normal range , tried  to raise this with consultant who completely dismissed it. Had surgery , then did bone density , diagnosed with borderline osteoporosis. Had bloods again , now neutropiles are also below normal limits & platlets have fallen to 180 . Results have been flagged but no one is talking to me, all I have is a rheumatology follow up phone call in January .I feel very let down by MacMilan nurses , I don't have a named nurse ,only contact has been purely transactional , buy this surgery  support bra , do these  excercises.

im not on any medication , although about to start Letrozole . Any thoughts on weird bloods & what I should do ?thanks in advance 

  • I'm sorry that you're feeling a tad overwhelmed and unsupported at the moment Beats29. This is the last thing anyone should have to experience on their cancer journey.

    Hopefully some of our members who have found themselves in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime, it may be worth getting in touch with your GP to see if they can talk through your blood test results with you or get someone to contact you to discuss them.

    Hi Beats,

    A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear that nobody has discussed these findings with you. If you are not getting anywhere with the hospital, why don't you go and have a chat with your GP? S/he should have received reports on all that has been done and the results and should be able to help you out. They should also be able to tell you if there is anything you can do about your weird bloods.

    Next time you visit the hospital go armed with a list of questions. I find that my care team tell me more when I ask direct questions. Also ask why you haven't been allocated a specialist nurse, as I thought that this was routine.

    I think the initial feeling is being overwhelmed and you just seem to be taken along for the ride and not really undertanding any of it. I had Surgery Last September and the bloods they did before surgery were also all over the place, but no-one seemed very concerned about it, so I just put it down to how my body was dealing with what was going on and if there was a concern they surely would tell me, but there was just so much information being put on me it was hard to keep up.

    I am so sorry that you have not been assigned a breast care nurse, as Jolamine said I wonder why this has not been done for you as I also thought it was routine, although you did mention Macmillan and not the breast care team at your hospital and I have no idea how macmillan nurses work.

    Are you signed up to patient access or patient knows best? As you mentioned you saw the results of your bloods, I know at the time I looked on Patient knows best and could see the graph of all the results and I did print them off, as it helps me to have a paper record too as well as seeing it online and watch the changes in the different blood tests I have done, although because I am not a Doctor and don't fully understand what the results mean I do ask questions and read up on it. But it can look quite scary sometimes.

    If you can get the Breast Care Team to assign you a Breast Care Nurse, I have found that they are very supportive and will answer your questions and take their time with you and hopefully this will help you going forward. Even Months on I still have questions that pop up and I write them down and I still get overwhelmed with new lumps and bumps and feeling unwell. It just feels more elevated now after a cancer diagnosis..

    Thank you everybody for your replies I did contact breast team but their only advice was to contact my GP . It's weird that last time I saw Drs it was always stressed how important it was to start medication , yet I've had no information at all  for  weeks . Surgery was 2 over 2 months ago .I don't know whose prescribing , or when . I will go to GP  but I thought they had to copy you in if they wrote to GPS
