I never went black, but my nails were painted any combination of dark plum, red, dark blue and even dark green all the time I was having chemo (carboplatin and pacliataxol). Deciding which of my daughter's extensive nail polish collection I was going to borrow next certainly made the whole process slightly more interesting!

Did this stop any damage to your nails? I have had 2 of 3 rounds of docetaxel and worried my nails will still end up damaged?

I had 3 rounds of taxotere and painted my nails a dark plum shade to try and help.  My nails were in the best shape ever and grew lovely and long and I got lots of compliments from the nurses!  Unfortunately after I finished the chemo they started turning white.  I cut them short to stop them catching but eventually I lost nails to some degree on all but my little fingers (from the top down rather than the nail bed up).  They did grow back eventually but have never been that good since and don't grow that long.
