Chemotherapy side effects

I finished cycle one on Wednesday. Today is Saturday I'm vomiting and need to lie down. Is this normal?

  • Hi sickness is one of the problems with chemo , oncology should supply you with tablets to help ,you should have a phone number to ring for your chemo ward then tell them what problems your having ,.

Remember you'll have to take it easy for a while and learn when to lay down for a while.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

    Best wishes.

  • Hi Jacmary

Sorry to hear that you're feeling unwell after chemo. As Billy said yes it's perfectly normal. When you wake up take an antisickness tablet. Don't wait to feel sick before taking it, just take it. Hopefully it'll only last a couple of days.

You may find you have more symptoms as you have each cycle. I get worse with each cycle but hopefully you'll be ok. Chemo mouth is a big problem with most of us. You might have a horrible taste in your mouth. A mouth spray and or sweets that you can suck help a little. If you get ulcers or a sore mouth you can get mouthwash from your nurse.

Finally listen to your body. Chemo is tough so if you need to rest do so. Eat what you can to give you the strength to get through it.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
