6hr Chemo... Advice please

Hi All

I'm due to start Radiochemotherapy in a couple of weeks.  The chemo will be every Monday for 6 hours.

I also have to have 30 sessions of radiotherapy on both sides of my neck, T4 tonsil cancer which has spread to surrounding tissue and lymph nodes.

Strangely I'm OK with both the diagnosis and brutal effects of the radiotherapy but the 6 hour sessions of chemo fill me with dreed as I'm not someone who deals well with doing nothing.  I  expect by week 3 or 4 I will be so fatigued that I will be thankful for the rest.

Any advice, especially from someone whos been there, to make the time more comfortable,  bearable and less mind numbing would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

  • First time I met brenda I knew she was the one for me, despite her being a widow with three sons eldest was only 18 months younger than me,and she was nearly 14 years older I was 20 at the time.

After two years of asking her, she relented to say yes but I had to agree to look after her when she got old that was 49 years ago and I'm sticking to My promise so I have to keep positive and keep fighting as much as i can.

Others on here are braking the odds despite what experts say,all are fighting and positive despite setbacks now and again.

Remember keep in touch, welcome any time even just to rant or just say how you feel or talk.

    Best wishes for the future.

  • Hi Billy

What an amazing love story,  if it were a book I would read it, a film I would watch it... I had to read it to my wife.

Again you leave me lost for words.  It's mind blowing the human resolve when we have something to fight for.

    You are an inspiration

Stay strong and keep up the good fight.
