How long have I got with Stage 4?

I've been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. The cancer has spread to my sternum, spine and ribs. I've had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and am in 3 monthly hormone therapy injections. Apart from the side effects of treatment I suppose I'm OK. I have asked my oncologist 'how long have I got?'

The reply I always get is: "I still have some patients on my books that have been there 10 years.'

Not knowing is like having a ticking time bomb in you. Not knowing when it's going to go off isn't much fun.

  • Hi Gonefishing

I'm so sorry to hear your diagnosis- cancer is a *** but you must try and stay positive / you sound as though you are - I've just passed my one year of finishing my treatment for grade 3 TNBC- but the reason I wanted to respond was to share with you my experience with my darling sister - sadly after a 3 year plus battle with cancer she was told she had brain mets and they gave her a few months maybe six - cancer didn't know what it was taking on when it came to my sister because she lived for another year - I can't tell you it was easy but she was amazing / she crammed so much into that year and was determined to do whatever she wanted / and she did! I send you the very best wishes and pray for you - don't let it rule your life - do what you want and go for it - x
