Feeling like a victim

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer on 24th March regrettably it has spread to the lymph nodes so an operation is now out of the question although chemo should be available but have been advised that the risk of getting CV while attending the hospital outweighs being given the treatment. I have to wait a further 6 weeks to discuss again with an oncologist by telephone. I feel the only hope I have is immediate treatment what can I do? How many others are in a similar situation?

  • Hello there.

I am receiving treatment for breast cancer and have had my plan changed due to CV. There was an expert from cancer research on TV this morning telling people with cancer or suspected cancer to challenge any decision to delay investigation/treatment especially if you believe it will effect your survival!  Go back to your drs and apply pressure.  Depending where you live in the country they are changing their steer and now offering chemo

    Goid luck xxx

  • The advice given is sensible.  My husband has incurable cancer but is still having treatment regardless of covid19.  People are dying due to lack of treatment and diagnosis so push for treatment.  My understanding was that private hospitals were supposed to be helping out the NHS cancer patients so ask about that.  It's your health and your life in the balance and up North there is a saying, shy bairns get nowt.  Stand your ground.  Good luck for any future treatment.  Carol x

  • Ah bless you, I cant understand why on earth we cant have regional cancer treatment centres. Reports on the news tonight have said the cancer cases may outnumber covid19. it seems really stupid that there hasn't been a provision made  for this.
    maybe a petition? X

  • I've had all scans, meeting oncologist and next treatment Plan Cancelled,

Of Course I'm up to my eyes worrying, what if it's spread here there and anywhere,

It's not good enough, and I've said the same two weeks ago, there will be losing more cancer patients

    Than Corona because of neglect,

    So Scared.

  • Hi all

When i go for cancer treatment at our hospital our oncology ward is outside the main hospital at the time I thought it very strange but know think a very good I'dea because your not going to get any risk from the main building at all. So only have to be careful afterwards. I wonder how many have been built like that..

Good luck to anyone getting treatment, hopefully things will get moving again now experts have thought things through properly.. Best wishes to all.

  • Thanks all who replied to my post, so appreciate it, have today tried to speak to my consultant but only got as far as her secretary who took a note of my questions and she will get back to me tomorrow. Not what I was looking for but I will wait and hope my consultant chooses to speak to me. Good luck everyone going forward we all have our own corner to fight. Keep safe.
