Chemo stopped due to CV19 risks

Hi, I had a call with my oncologist this morning, he told me it was 100% clear to him that my adjuvant chemo after lung surgery should be stopped due to Covid19 risks. I'm 49 years old, live in the South East and have had 2 of the 4 planned cycles but had terrible side effects after cycle 1 and ended up in hospital. I just hope those first 2 treatments did their job!

Has anyone else had theirs stopped?

I'm in 12 weeks lockdown like I suspect many extremely vulnerable people on here are, and have been self isolating for the past 2 weeks as well.

Take care everyone.

  • Hi Ruth

Grade 3 invasive breast cancer triple neg.

Yes I was to start chemo on Wednesday before surgery and they have stopped it. Going to do surgery instead (they rang me yesterday!) and my surgeon was to call me today and just been told they are in self-isolation so waiting to see the plan.

I have been in lockdown for a week pre chemo, going to stay put and hope for the best. What else can we do?

    Take care xx

  • We're waiting for the dreaded call today, having palliative immunotherapy so not sure what they will say to my husband.  Scary times for us all.  Carol xx

  • Hi Carol

Hope you get the call and the treatment goes ahead

  • Finally got the call, if bloods OK then a double dose will be administered lasting six weeks, fingers crossed.

  • Hi I am interested to hear how things went after your 2 of 4 adjuvant chemo cycles. I hope you don't mind me contacting so long after this event for you.

I had an upper right lobectomy October last year (2023).

I had my 2nd adjuvant chemo cycle last week. My 1st chemo cycle was ok but this time I'm am totally wiped out. Spending a lot of time in bed and falling asleep all the time. I am worried about going ahead with the 3rd and 4th cycle.

I am thinking of contacting my consultant to discuss not having the 3rd and 4th but worry that I'd regret not having them if the cancer returned.
