Light treatment stopped because of coronavirus

HI everyone

have you all found that the NHS has stopped your PUVA treatment because of the CoronaVirus?  I was just 5 weeks into my treatment and in the last 10 days the infernal itching had actually slowed down.  Now I was sent packing with nothing other than contact your GP for cortisone cream.  They said that it will be a minimum of 3 months before treatment starts but more likely 6 months.  I have at least 30% of my body covered in the rash and this appeared within 6 months so I am guessing my is not indolent and feel totally left alone in this.

I am investigating the purchase of a UVB light as the ointment takes at least 20 minutes to apply and I am getting through a tube a week so thinking the UVB light might be a good purhcase.  It's diy healthcare when the government promised cancer patients would be looked after. Ha!  Let me know if any of you have invested in a light and if it has helped.

thanks

  • I'm sorry your light treatment has been stopped because of the coronavirus and you're feeling alone. This must be very frustrating.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this treatment and have some tips and advice for you now that yours has temporarily been put on hold will be along soon but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses then you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
