Chemo and work

Hi , I am Nat , I was diagnosed with left invasive ductal cancer end of October 2019. I had lumpectomy on the 26 November 2019 and a second operation on the 17 December 2019. Unfortunately the sentinel lymph node was tested positive. I decided against the axillary lymph node dissection . Instead of the extended surgery I will have radiotherapy. On Thursday I need my first Chemotherapy  AC / Paclitaxel . 

I would like continue to work through chemotherapy treatment. I  need my job not only because of the money , it gives me distraction and I love my job ( I am a nurse ).I am single and have no children. Some of my friends and my family are living abroad. 

I would like to know your experience with working while having Chemotherapy.

    Hi tissue,  welcome to the forum the club nobody wants to join. It all depends on if you have any side effects. I had very understanding boss and was allowed to work when i wanted (or well enough) to. Hopefully you won't be to bad. All being well others will give their stories soon, best wishes for the future........

    Hi Nat

    I was diagnosed in Oct and had Surgery in November, I took a few weeks off after the surgery but went back knowing I would need more time off when Chemo started. It was suggested that I should not return to work during Chemo as the Office I work in has no windows/fresh air but is ran on Air Con. So when one person gets a cold/virus everybody gets it,

    Although I know health comes before money it is difficult not to think about the dreaded SSP. I’m sure as a nurse you will have a great Health cover and remember hundreds go through this and MacMillan do have loads of good financial advice.

    I started Chemo today and know I am going to miss work/friends but made sure I have all their emails & mobile contacts.
