What can I expect from Palliative Chemo? (I start tomorrow)

Hi

I'm would like to ask if you could tell me what to expect when I start my palliative chemotherapy on Monday?

I know everyone is different, but I  would be gratefull if someone could give me a rough idea off what to expect.

             Thanks

  • Hi wimbat palliative chemo like any other chemo, you don't normally have any side effects until so many days after after infusion, normally feeling or being sick main ones, hair loss. It varies a lot depending on type of cemotherapy and strength, and fitness of pacient. Tablets should be supplied at hospital to help with side effects. I've been palliative care from Feb 2016. Good luck with treatment........ Billy

  • Hi again,

Most of us find the first chemo session to be an anti-climax - after all the nervous waiting to get my treatment started my initial reaction was “is that it?!”

Billy’s post really sums it up well.

Take a book, Kindle, headphones etc with you to help pass the time and don’t even think about driving yourself home!

    Best wishes

    Dave

  • Thank you

For the reply , I agree with you  , other than the pins and needles in the tips off my fingers, I feel not

    To bad at all ,

Start the tablets tonight so hopefully all will be well & fine after round 1  , I still feel it's alot off information to take in in such a short time.

Once again thank you for the quick response
