Long-shot query here - but I'd love to know whether anyone has a shared experience. After 4 3-weekly cycles of EC, I was switched as planned to a second regime of weekly Paclitaxel with 3-weekly Trastuzumab+Pertuzumab. Quite a few of the more common side effects of EC but nothing major, and no vomiting or nausea at all.
Now, in my late teens and early 20's I had a few full-blown migraine attacks - aura, crippling headache, vomiting. Then they disappeared. In my fifties, I started to experience just the "migraine aura", without the other symptoms, apart from a slight feeling of elsewhereness. Quite rare, maybe 5 or 6 times a year, often in clumps of 2 or 3 within a few weeks.
I had one a few days after my first dose of Paclitaxel and, although not worried by it and certainly hadn't linked it, did note that it was more dynamic and more colourful than I'd experienced before. But that first infusion of Paclitaxel was absolutely fine, as was the second one. But shortly into the third infusion, I started to experience itching in my back. When I turned to the nurse to tell her, looking into her face I realised that I had started into one of my migraine auras. It was still in its very early stage, but instantly recognisable. The reaction I had was quite severe, went through several stages including deep dread until I passed out and was sick all over my tee-shirt. But until passing out, the aura continued its normal course.
So my fascination is a chicken-and-egg one. Could the "migraine aura" condition have triggered the reaction? Googling is hopeless here. Although I think it might be possible that the Paclitaxel increased my sensitivity to the changes in the brain inducing the auras, I can't help but think that those changes might have induced the reaction. So I'd love to hear from anyone who might have experienced a similar coincidence of events.
PS: I should add that my potassium levels were low on the day of my reaction (diarrhoea!) and that an electrolyte imbalance is associated with migraine...
