I am currently suffering from rectal cancer with liver metastasis and have been offered the above treatment. Is anyone using this type of chemo and how are you getting on? Have you experienced any severe side effects?

Hi John and welcome to the forum.
I noticed you haven't had a reply yet so I just wanted to put in you touch with [@86Mal86] and [@Kel1979] as they both had this chemo as part of their treatment, so fingers crossed they'll pop by when they can to share their advice and experiences with you.
We have some information about capecitabine on our website as well but if you'd like to discuss this someone in person then do give our cancer nurses a call next week. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best with your chemo.
Kind regards,

Hello John
I`m sorry that you are having hard times with C - it`s not always nice and I believe you will kick its a** ;)
I was on Xelox regime which involved capecitabine.
My side effects were more appearing after oxaliplating infusions than capecitabine to be fair. Had to take Xeloda for 2 weeks and then had a week break before another cycle started. I had some headaches and tummy aches which were put down to capecitabine. Muscles in my back were very painful as well.
I was lucky to not feel and being sick etc but everyone is different.
Please let me know if you need some more information :)
Best of luck :)
Mal
Hello mal. Thanks for your responding to me. I'll take your advice and kick its ***!! I haven't started capecitabine as yet but I have a host of comorbidities including COPD and type 1 diabetes. My biggest fear is nausia and sickness and losing my hair.... it's all I have left. Good luck with your treatment Mal. John51
