I have been diagnosed with bowel cancer in June this year. This was a complete shock for me to hear the diagnose - didn`t see it coming at all! I have cancer free family - noone ever had any kind of issues with bowels etc.
I have rushed to my GP one day as I have gained very high temperature which was really hard to get rid of. They said it`s just a viral and my throat looks like it can be infected but this will go in few days so I`ve stayed in paracetamol. Few days later I have decided to go to walk in centre and from there they have sent me over to Surgical Assessment Unit in hospital where my blood was checked and it appeared I have an anemia (couldn`t see any bleeding at all as cancer was on right side of the bowel). In hospital doctor decided to give me blood transfusion which was a bit of shock as well...
I have also lost some weight which wasn`t easy to find as month before I have started very strict diet so weight loss didn`t worry me at all. I have been examined of abdominal part of my body by surgical consulant who decided about CT scan next day - two hours after scan there was decision about surgery. I gone through Right Hemicolectomy (ended up with sepsis as well).
Month after I still didn`t have surgery results so I was thinking the news might not be as bad - I was so wrong. It appear to be a bowel cancer in stage 2 - no lymph noded involved and lung scan didn`t show any spreads (liver etc have been checked during first scan in hospital). On 12/11/218 I have completed 4 cycles of chemo (Xelox).
On 5th of December I was signed off from oncology department and referred to surgeons for follow up checks :)
I`m just 32 and staying as much positive as I can - have so much plans for my life and my little boy :) All I do is for him now - I want to get to when he will have his own kids and nothing will stop me from it :)
