Radiotherapy

Hi

Just on day 10 out of 30 for radiotherapy.

Saliva is thick, sticky and hard to swallow.  Mouth is sore and stiff, also throat sore. Tongue is tethered due to the tumour so speaking very difficult. Food tastes bad and not managing much.

Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with the symptoms.

Thanks

Dover

So you have a humidifier for bedroom ? Amazon appx £25  plus a nebuliser hospital should loan you one of those. Are u using saline mouth washes ? To gargle with.

the journey and treatment is hard but if me a 62 year old female can do it anyone can.

there is also a post on here called radiotherapy for throat cancer by Anchor 1707 where lots if us comment .

do you have a peg ? I didn’t but around week 3 I had a nasal feeding tube which kept me going for 6 weeks. Are you on painkillers like my oncologist said clue is in the name if u need them take them don’t try and be brave it doesn’t work  at one point my cocktail was 6 ibuprofen 8 30 mg co codomol and up to 40 mil of oramorph and I know others who had far more  we didn’t become addict s as we all took it for real pain just had to wean off itbwhen time came.

    any questions ask away
