Decisions about Chemotherapy

Hi

I have stage 1c ovarian cancer. Have had my final containment surgery (removal of uterus, pelvic lymph nodes, momentum, cervix.) My appointment to discuss this histology is looming. But I really don't want chemotherapy as I've been told it hasn't spread to my lymph nodes or other organs.

Do we have to allow this treatment, thus unpleasant side effects be the only option?

Does anyone feel this way?

Thanks.

  • Hi Ellie no body likes cemotheropy but if any loose C cells are in the body there is a good chance it will start up probably somewhere else, Cemo has a good chance of stopping it for good,,. The choice is yours. Please think about it.

  • Hi, chemo is a big decision to make. I had no lymph node involvement either but the onco couldn't rule out a rogue cell, so my chemo was a flush....I want/need to know I've done everything I can to prevent it coming back, I know there are no guarantees but I feel I need to throw everything at it.....I think once you've had a good chat to your oncologist you will be clearer about the way forward, and it's your personal decision.....good luck xxx

  • Thanks for your reply. It's a big decision, the side effects is what's getting to me.  I will discuss other options with my oncologist.
