Letrozole: I am now in year 6 and 6 months. doctors want me to go on for 10 years. I started to have osteoporosis. Not taking any of the drugs for osteoporosis.

I excercise regularly:  an avarage of 8 hours per week, includes fast walking, biking  and weight lifting

I have had stiff joints with my hand show signs of arthritis.

I wonder how are the risks of stopping letrozole.

I feel my body aches and I tend to take a mild over the counter pain killer - panadol - sometimes 2 pills or 3 per 24h.

I feel depressed too.  My carcer was breast cancer, hormone sensitive - 95% to estrogen - Cancer stage 3

  • Sorry to hear your struggling on letrozole....after chemo ( start tomorrow) and herceptin and rads I will be on something similar.....I started reading up on the inhibitors but stopped as it all sounded pretty horrible and I have enough on my plate  at the mo...

There was a lady on here a while back who decided to come off her inhibitors after only 2 years ( I think) as she couldn't cope with the bone pain, sadly her cancer came back and she was asking if it was because she had stopped them....I guess no one will ever know for sure ....

The person to go to will be your doctor, they may switch to another inhibitor.....just a tweak maybe? I also know the different brands can make a difference.....

i hope you get it sorted soon.....and well done for coping thus far.....xxx
