Hair loss..!!

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help please..??

I've just had my first chemo session and am sat waiting for something to happen..!!

I've been a little sick and have had a headache, but really not bad surprisingly..!

I was wondering what people's experiences are regarding hair loss and when it might happen. My chemo is FEC so believe hair loss is inevitable, just wondering when it might happen...!!

Thank you xxx

  • Hi Marlyn

my hair was half way down my back, so after diagnosis I had I cut into a shoulder length bob I saw the wig lady and semi matched the wig to my new style.

I had my first chemo early December and didn’t notice any hair hair loss until around 10 days later, then everyday it was just falling out just touching it.. so I organised a hair off party and my sister shaved it off (well not totally the longest comb she had)  so I’ve now had a further 2 sessions and I can only describe it as looking like a baby with cradle cap!..

i only tend to wear my wig if I’m going out.  Just in the house or walking the dogs I just wear one of my many Woolley hats.

Good luck in your journey xxx

  • Hi again,

got a wig fitting next Thursday. And just chopped my hair short today.in prep....I think once I have the wig and turbans I will go the whole hog....xxxx

  • Hi Marlyn, you sound like you are up for this journey, best to be prepared, it defo helps. My treatment went in quickly and it’s great when your hair starts growing back. I honestly can say I love my wigs. Good luck xx

  • Must admit I am a control freak, and this whole chemo thing has had me in a head spin, so I am trying to claw back some control and be practical...there's no point in pretending I might not loose my hair....I also like ticking boxes and am already looking forward to ticking off each round of chemo...blimey....what am I like!!! My poor hubby....lol.... xxx

  • Hi, I think you are doing exactly what I did lol. I had my wig before my treatment started. Bought medication for ulcers in mouth, false eyelashes, eye pencils, none of which I needed as I didn’t get ulcers or lose my eyelashes but I was prepared. Any other medication I needed the nurses provided me with which wasn’t a lot. I was more than ready when chemo started and glad as all the tests were finished with, there was such a lot.

Get your tick list ready, I did that as well xx

  • Morning, you will have to let me know what moth care products you stocked up on, as I will too! Any other recommendations will be gratefully received....oh yes...I do love a tick list!

when is you appointment next week? Is it for biopsy on neck? How are you feeling? Xxx

  • Hi All,

Sorry not been on here. Wasn't feeling my sparkly best.  Which is silly really as it's probably when I should be looking to all you lovely people for support..!!

I've purchased some lovely hats and scarves and I'm ready to fight again now.

I'm introducing my 12 year old son to all the hats and letting him help me choose...!!

    We can all do this...!!

    Hugs to you all..xxx

  • Oh missmo, sorry your not good.....I don't want to pry but have you been sick at all? Are you managing to sleep? I know I'm not going to feel great but I'm curious at to how Ill I'm going to be...i hope that doesn't make me sound weird??? Have you been given anti nausea pills?

Everyone is telling me how good my hair looks since I cut it yesterday, I know their being nice but it really doesn't help when I know I'm going to be bald soon!!! Xxxx

  • I know exactly how you feel. Please don't think your prying at all. We are all here for each other..x

I was actually growing my hair And got it shoulder length.

I had a get together with friends to have it cut off and was great fun, but like you I feel sad about my hair. Then I think about the fact it's temporary and it will grow back once cancer has had it's *** kicked .

I was given a anti sickness before the chemotherapy drugs went in and sent home from hospital with a strong anti sickness for a day after chemotherapy and also some anti sickness to take 3 times a day. I was given steroids for 3 days and some tummy tablets to take for a week.  And to finish it off was given some mouth wash...

I was only sick on the day of Chemo, but actually felt better after being sick..then a bit nauseous for a couple of days after.

It only lasted for 3 days and now I'm back on form again...!!

Everyone's experience is so, so different. So please take every day as it comes my lovely and look after yourself..!! Xxx
