Hair loss..!!

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help please..??

I've just had my first chemo session and am sat waiting for something to happen..!!

I've been a little sick and have had a headache, but really not bad surprisingly..!

I was wondering what people's experiences are regarding hair loss and when it might happen. My chemo is FEC so believe hair loss is inevitable, just wondering when it might happen...!!

Thank you xxx

  • Hair started to fall out a week ago. Day 12 after chemo. but took control and had a  grade 1 hair cut . It eased the sore head right away. Very liberating... and love it. Mad I know..!!

2nd chemo today and so far, so good..

Love to all you lovely people..!! Xx

  • I love your positivity! I am day 6 post chemo and today feel exhausted, just getting dressed wiped me out. My head tingles and hair feels like a Brillo pad, as soon as it starts to go south the clippers are coming out....I have me scalp oil ready....

good luck today Hun, if you get a mo and feel up to it I would love to hear from you xxxx

  • Hi Marilyn,

I found my scalp was sore, but when my friend shaved it off the soreness stopped.

The oncologist changed my sickness meds and added another one and no sickness so far or brain freeze headache. Didn't sleep great, but can have a snooze later.

Positivity gets me through. I'm currently going through a divorce as well and buying a house. All keeping me focused..!!

Stay strong my lovely. Sending hugs. Xx

  • I too am going to ask onco to tweak my anti sickness as I ended up in hospital the day after chemo with non stop vomiting, I believe emend is gold standard? It was written on my paperwork but crossed out for some reason...

oh wow, you are going through so much! Is there someone at home with you? I couldn't do this on my own....xxxxx

  • Hi Marlyn,

I got put on Emend and my ondansetron was changed to Granisetron.

Its working really well for me. I haven't been sick at all this time and no brain freeze headache, which my oncologist said was one of the side effects of odansetron...!!

Going through so much, but the divorce was my choice as couldn't take the emotional abuse and controlling behaviour anymore. This has made me stronger and so it's been easier to deal with the cancer. I am living with my parents until my new house is ready. I have such lovely friends and family around me and feel so lucky to have them all. I have 2 lovely sons aged 17 and 12. They are handling things so well and i'm so proud of them.

You take care and i really hope that your 2nd chemo is a much better experience than your 1st. xxx

I'm sorry that you ended up in hospital after your first chemo session. That's really not nice for you.

  • I lost my hair, however, I had organised a fabulous wig before hand.  Just a shade lighter than my normal colour and a similar style.  Nobody noticed except for saying how lovely my hair looked.  I chose half human half synthetic and although I finished my chemo last September and my hair is now growing back quite well, I still enjoy wearing the wig to work.  The wig gave me confidence as I continued to work thoughout treatment.  Good luck!  It does grow back
