Hair loss..!!

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help please..??

I've just had my first chemo session and am sat waiting for something to happen..!!

I've been a little sick and have had a headache, but really not bad surprisingly..!

I was wondering what people's experiences are regarding hair loss and when it might happen. My chemo is FEC so believe hair loss is inevitable, just wondering when it might happen...!!

Thank you xxx

  • Hello, I too will be in your position soon, seeing oncologist wed to find start date. I have already booked to get my wig sorted on thurs as I want to be prepared....also been cutting my hair shorter and shorter in prep.....were you offered the cold cap?

From what I have been reading it seems to hit a few days after? But I suppose we all react differently. I will keep on eye on this thread and I wish you all the best and good stuff in the world.....xxxxx

  • Hi Marlyn,

    Thank you for your reply.

I, too, have my wig and had my hair cut short. Had a great evening with friends whilst having my haircut short.

I was offered the cold cap, but really thought I could deal with the hair loss so refused it. I think, as with the whole cancer process, it's the waiting..

My hair is definitely feeling different and my scalp is tingling.. but all things considered I feel ok..

I wish you all the luck as well my lovely. Xxx

  • Keep us posted.......we can do this....xxx

  • Hi, my hair came out on the third week after having my first chemo, I wore a sleep hat at night and my wig during day so didn’t see it falling out during the day. I gently washed my hair only once a week and used a cool setting on hair drier. My hair is now coming back in, it’s like baby hair and have curls. No idea what to do with it atm as I’m still wearing my wig. It also came in pure white lol, I’ve just used a natural dye which is same colour of my wig.

Good luck with your treatment x

  • Hello scones, have you finished chemo now? How long did it take to see your hair growing back? My natural colour is grey now but I colour it, hoping I can do this after chemo?

    Hope your doing well xxxx

  • Yes, we can do this... xxx

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'm only 3 days after my first chemo, but am already noticing a difference in the texture of my hair. My head is itchy and my hair is a bit limp.

Am looking forward to my chemo curls though. Always wanted curly hair.

    Its strange just waiting...!!

    Keep fighting everyone..!! Xxx

  • Hi, I finished my chemo in November so I guess it’s 10 weeks now. My hair came in white as snow and showed thru bits of my wig so I bought a natural dye,it was quite expensive at around £10 and I only used a small amount as I didn’t have much hair but it was worth it. Matches my wig perfectly, not brave enuf to go into my hairdressers for a very small trim as I don’t use harsh brushes or tongs (not that I cud use them on what I’ve got lol)

i was doing really well till my second follow up appointment when doc found another lump on my neck. I have to go for my biopsy next week, I just can’t believe it would come back so soon after excellent scans in December. Doc said that as well but was going to bring it up at the multi disciplinary meeting she had the following day. Fingers crossed.

I wish you well in your treatment, take care x

  • I also wish you well my love.....hope it's all ok xxxxx

  • Sending you hugs and positive thoughts...!!

    Keeping everything crossed for you...xxxxx
