1 year post hysterectomy for cancer ,now some more symptoms

Hello, thanks for reading. I am or was doing really well after stage 1 grade 3 cancer in uterus. The op went well, (January 2018 ) no node infection. For a month or so I have had an awareness of my lower tummy and some mild stabbing pain,it’s always in the same area.Just feel a bit bruisy across from left to right almost across at the point where the uterus was.Thinking it’s my contents still settling or some such thing, no other problems just this sudden awareness. Due my annual in 4 weeks but it’s pressing on my mind. Anyone feeling like this one year out. I did have brachytherapy x 3 after the hyster.

  • Hi Nessie

Yes had mild  stabing pain, like a pin *** and felt like things were sorting themselves out.  In fact I had these symptoms off and on for a while.  A nurse said " well they dont put things back as neat as they came out".

I put the stabbing pains down to stitches falling out because thats what it felt like.

If you think about it you have gone through a major physical trauma, surgery.  Them been blasted with radiation and if you had chemo then been poisened.  Its going to take a while and as you get stronger and fitter then things start moving again.

We can see the scars on the outside healing but not the ones on the inside so we tend to forget that there will be scar tissue bruising etc that also needs to heal.

You need to mention this at your next checkup though.

I remember every twing I thought "its back"  its only natural to feel like that but as time passes you will learn to cope with these feelings and they fade away, not completely but managable.

    Good luck with your checkup.

  • Hi please may I ask you a question, I am waiting on biopsy results for either endometrial cancer, or cancer in the uterus, I am post menopause I have bleeding pain in pelvis, have no appetite or if I manage something, I feel very full even on something small, may I ask what your symptoms where, if you don’t mind..

  • Hi I have only just found this site and read some of the messages ...I had a small bleed last December which resulted in Cancer in my womb ..had Hysterectomy in March gone then 5wks Radiotherapy ....I feel OK apart from my bowels and tummy playing up at times I think it's because everything moves onside after major surgery so now I find I can only eat small meals often rather than huge ones ...I see your post was some time ago ....I hope it went well for you and you recovered well....goodluck to all you ladies on here ...X
  • Hi Cobra ..yes I feel stabbing pains at times and I'm also very flatulent and can only eat small meals now as my bowel and tummy can't cope ...its only been 8months since my Hysterectomy so I suppose I'm still healing ..plus 5wks Radiotherapy on top ..the last 1 being internal ...I heard it takes a good year to fully recover ..hope your well x

  • Hiya hope ok to ask, I’m also 8 months past hysterectomy, all been ok but have found my constipation that I suffered pre hysterectomy is back wondering if uve suffered this 8 months on, and my underwear (sorry if to much information lol) is showing signs of white discharge, not sure is this normal either. I had 4 brachytherapy and am dry underneath so not sure why the discharge. Everything I read is weeks after op but nothing 8 months down the line

  • Hi Mario 11

I struggle with my bowels and very flatulent and windy ..sometimes I can follow through ...I eat smaller meals now and take Buscopan for my tummy they are brilliant as I have suffered with IBS over the years....I don't have any white discharge so maybe you should have that checked out ...I had 1 brachytherapy ...(bless you having 4) so it could be why your dry ...tell your doctor and ask what you can use to help ....goodluck and I hope it all clears up for you ..
