Pain where I had op after high stress at work

So about 3 1/2 months I had an opration to have my lower right lung removed, which left me in hospital for a week and of work for 3 months.

At this point I was ready to start work again and told my boss that I would need a grandual return to work, which there did for 1 week, but the one thing that was not grandual was the amount of pressure put on me and the amount of stress at work.

I've been working has hard and as fast as I can with one manager kepting on pushing me telling me that I need to be faster.
As I tryied to explain to her that I'm still missing a part of my lung that will never grow back, she said I've had 3 months of work and should be well enough to work and that my job was stressful and thats what you're paid to do.

I put with this for 2 weeks, living a nightmarish world at work, and one day I had to go home early as I felt I could not do my shift.

My right lung was hurting where the opp was and a gragling feeling in that part of my lung, the kind of feeling I've exprence for a few weeks after the opp.

Its now ok as I refused to push myself hard and take it easy.
But I'm still going to goto the dr to get it checked out to make sure there is no issue, and try to get a note telling work that I should be on light duites for a while.

Its so anoying and upseting that this one manager seem to not understand or care, and that I have to take it into my own action to get somthing done about this.

But is this common that such feelings can come back due to been pushed too hard?

  • Hello Crawlerbasher.

I'm really sorry to read your post and how you've been struggling since your return to work.

It's difficult to say with any certainty what has caused this feeling to return. It' certainly worth visiting your Dr to get things checked.

You might also want to have an informal chat with your Boss or someone from yout HR department and explain how you are feeling. They may be able to offer you some suport in your day to day role.

I hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes .

  • Hi

Can’t assist with the medical part...but it is concerning that you’re being treated like this.

If the informal approach with HR doesn’t work and things don’t improve, feel free to message me (I’m an employment law specialist). I can assist to step things up a bit if needed.
