have a constant runny nose with sputum collecting in the back of my throat, post ABVD chemotherapy. I'm going through a big box of tissues every day. It's driving me mad and making me feel unwell.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced this?

Hi there,
I've kind of experienced this.
The first thing I want to say though is get all new symptoms checked out with your oncology team or GP, just in case.
In terms of what it could be (just going by my limited knowledge) could it be that your have very mild hayfever but having nose hair has, until now, stopped that being obvious? Clearly that only works if you've lost your nose hair!
I have hayfever and it has got worse with not having the nose hair obviously, so my nose is streaming all the time and often I can't even feel it! Hankies are being used far more than usual in my house now, I might buy shares in Kleenex :D
After having pneumonia last year I was also left with a post-nasal drip and I got given a spray that helps with that, this may be something that would be of use to you, worth checking with a medic.
For the hayfever I have hayfever balms which you can coat the edge of your nose with to help block pollen, they work well for me and I am using them a lot more just now to help with my nose running.
Sorry if this doesn't help, my mum had problems with her nose always running too and I think a spray helped with that. We were/are both on FEC-T so different chemo but lots of the side effects are common to a number of regimes.
Hope you find something to help, it is a very frustrating symptom and actually quite an embarrasing one in some situations.
Best of luck,
LJ
Hi
Thanks for your reply. Your explanation does make sense.
Out of desperation, I visited my GP yesterday. I was subscribed Cetrizine antihistamin tablets. Wow what a difference, they worked straight away. I must have only used a dozen tissues all day today, where I'd normally easily go through 1 big box a day!
Great news, glad to hear it.
If you struggle at all with side effects from the tablets consider giving LloydsPharmacy Allergy Reliever a go. You look like Rudolph using it but I find it works for me.
Hope it stays stopped for you.
LJ
Thanks for the tip.
