Triple negative breast cancer grade 3

Hi everyone.

I have triple negative breast cancer grade 3 and start my chemo in 2 weeks. 3 sessions of FEC - T then 3 of docetaxel.  Have been looking at wigs but just doesn't feel right. I'm scared and don't wanna know to much about it if I honest just want to know that it's treatable and curable which docs have told me it is so that's good enough for me. Has anyway else had this diagnosis or treatment and what can i expect. The fear of infection while going thru treatment scares me also. How has everyone else been with that ??

Sending love n hugs to all fighting cancer

    Hi Zelda,

I am sorry to hear about your breast cancer and, hope that the chemo works to reduce the size of your tumours.

I have had a lumpectomy 9 years ago, followed by a double mastectomy 8 years ago, so if you have any questions, just holler!

Please keep us updated. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • What sort of breast cancer did you have ? Mine is invasive ductal cancer grade 3 triple negative . iv had 3 chemo so far 2 where cancelled as iv had chest infection.  Starting diffrent chem when finished the last one there was only 4 of thoes 1 every 2 weeks. Next lot 1 every week and 1 every 3rd week so 5 lots every month for 12 weeks seems a lot. Then they taking my boob off dont know why they bother with all the chem then take boob off.  Some woman had boob of first the pick line has been making my arm bad the plaster thing they put the line in been digging in cutting me , they have put gauze there now so better. Hope you are ok and doing well xx

    HI Zelda,

I am doing well thanks. I had Mucinous Cancer, Grade 1, HER2- cancer both times. Fortunately, it is one of the less aggressive forms of cancer, so why I got it again a year later was a mystery. I had a lumpectomy followed by Tamoxifen the first time and, second time around a double mastectomy, followed by Letrozole for 6 years. I stopped taking Letrozole in July 2017.

I am no medic, but I think that chemo is advised with aggressive cancers. It is also used to reduce the size of some tumours before surgery. My lump was small, so no chemo needed. Do you know what size your tumour is?

I am sorry that your PICC line is giving you bother, but glad to hear that the gauze has made it less painful.

How are you coping with your chemo? I hope that your chest infection has cleared now and you can get back to it soon.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Sorry taken so long to get back havent been to good with my chemo. I dont know the size they havent said i can feel 2 of them feel small but aparentley they have seen more on mri scan i had in november behind the blocked milk duct only told me this 2 weeks ago x im glad you have been doing well. Lots of people i have met in chemo have had second cancers caused by chem so i dont know . Xx

  • I dont understand any of it all i know is i have invasive ductal cancer grade 3 triple negative.  Milk duct still blocked not going to drain it a small lump by it been told now more lumps behind it and one little lump near further up its in my lymp nodes but all in breast only. I have had first 4 lots of chemo . Starting my new lot of chemo 6th February every week and every 3rd week for 12 weeks . Then after this taking my boob of and striping lymph nodes out . So i dont know all a bit of a mess and shock realy x

  • I dont know what size they are there was one by the blocked milk duct and one at top of my breast and in lymph nodes. They told me now there are more tumours behind the milk duct . They didnt show up on mammogram but they say them in Mri . Told me i was having mri see how big they where and so they know where to put the pegs or something . Finished one lot of chemo every 2 weeks . Now started new chem  2 then 1 then 1 then 2 every week for 12 weeks so 6 lots chemo a month. After that taking my boob off all so scary. Xx

    Hi Zelda,

This can sometimes happen, which is why they have decided to give you an MRI. By using different tests, tumours can be found with one test which don't show up in others. Your consultant is obviously being diligent in his tests and I applaud this, as it is important to get an accurate diagnosis , before he tries to get an effective treatment.

I haven't had chemo or radiotherapy, so cannot comment on this, but I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 9 years and am currently waiting to get a melanoma removed from my face shortly. I first had a lumpectomy. The following year I had a second cancer in the same breast and had a double mastectomy. I found my mastectomies easier to deal with than my lumpectomy and, notice that others on this site have said the same.

The thought of having your boob removed is scary, but that is only a thought. The reality of having this done, was far easier than I ever imagined.

Thinking of you and hoping that it all goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • 2 small lumps one by side of blocked milk duct one little on buy top side of chest but told me 6 weeks ago large cluster tumours behind milk duct about 9cm didnt see it on mammogram picked it up when had mri. Don't sons good had blocked duct 30 years been draing fiddling with it all this time wanted take it out 25 years ago . Now it has turned to this disgusting i think x

    Hi Zelda,

I hadn't realised that you have had problems with your breasts for so long and, am surprised that they didn't remove your breast years ago.

This is possibly to do with the changes that have been made in treatment in the past 30 years. I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer 21 years ago and, have had 2 bouts of breast cancer myself in the past 9 years. There is just no comparison between the treatment my mum received and that which I have experienced since I was diagnosed.

How are you getting on with the new chemo?

    Kiind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Zelda,

It sounds as if you’ve been having a pretty rough time with your chemo. How are you coping with your new chemo?

Please don’t worry about surgery after this. I have had a lumpectomy in 2010 and a double mastectomy a year later. There really was nothing to either of the operations. Try not to look too far ahead. Take life day by day and don’t look too far ahead.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Zelda,

It's good to catch up on how you're doing. I'm sorry that you've had such a difficult time with your chemo and, had to cancel your last session.  However, it's good to hear that this has brought your surgery forward.  I expect that you'll be quite relieved to get to this stage at last.

I shall be thinking of you the second week in June and hope that it all goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
