sorry to hear about your husband but welcome to the forum

i myself went through 6 weeks of Tomotherapy and during that time had a once a week 8 hour chemo session.

its a difficult process to go through, we each go through it differently, but it’s really had as a patient and just as hard as a partner watching a loved one going through it.

Although your husbands treatment process appears to be different to mine, there will be similarities of treatment and it’s impact.

im not sure how many session of radio therapy you husband has gone through, but is the radiation that caused most of the impact, lack of saliva, inability to swallow, talk and eat and this lasts for months not during treatment.

as for chemo .... I looked forward to it as I got pumped full of steroids on a Friday which made for a good weekend. if you stick to the numerous and constant drug routine after chemo, you should be ok......then came the downer from Tuesday to Thursday ....then up again on Friday.

how long are the chemo sessions

mine used to be 8 hour sessions and I got fed up of sitting in those OAP size chairs so used to make sure I always sweet talked the head nurse there.... even though I couldn’t talk at the end .... to get a bed

It might help is you hubby is in for a long session and feeling it a bit

Hi vatch,  my Hubby’s session was for half an hour, flushing etc made it about an hour altogether, he goes again in four weeks time, I was surprised when the nurse said it was going to be half an hour for the Chemo,           Take care ....

Hi vatch, you said to let you know how my hubby got on with Chemo etc, as I mentioned he had his first session on Monday, he’s been ok but through the night last nigh,he was in some pain at the side of his face & it’s swollen, it’s been swollen before but it seems to be more this time, & it looks like he may have ulcers in his mouth at the side of his mouth area & at the side of his tounge again, same as before when he had his RT, could this be a reaction from the chemo etc,    Thank you for taking time to read & advice, Carol  (cas27)
