Anal squamous cell cancer

Is there anyone on here who has had anal squamous cell cancer x

  • Thank you, Mandy.  I still suffer with that as well.  I don't venture out much and stay close to my potty.  I will have a few days where it's not so bad and then days of having to stay home.  It seems to be food related.

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing so well.

    Big hug, Sheri

  • Thanks girls for advice. Used my bidet to wee in, much better. The hospital did take wee sample yesterday to check for any nasties, but they did think it was the radiation. I think I might have to change pain relief, on Oramorph which makes me very sleepy but doesn’t seem to do anything for the pain, will see what they say today. Look on the bright side I’ve got less to do than I’ve already done! Lynne xx
  • Hi Lynne Hi Lynne, Don't worry I had to have my wee tested just in case of infection but it was the radiation and normal....so I am sure you'll be ok. Good luck! Mandy x
  • Hello Girls

hope you are are all doing well, where ever you are in your treatment/recovery.

i start on my second lot of chemo today and only have 8 more sessions of radiotherapy, nearly there girls the light at the end of the tunnel is fast approaching.

Now apart from the unbearable pain of pooing I noticed yesterday that there was something else in the mix, it looked liked flaky bits of skin, could this be the bum beastie being annihilated?

Oh it never rain but it pours my Mum was taken into hospital on Sunday with unexplained bleeding coming from her nether regions which considering she had a hysterectomy 30 years ago is worrying. The good thing is I visit her after my treatment, hopefully find out what’s causing it today.

Girls that have recently finished treatment what should I expect after it ends? Will I ever be able to poo again without crying?

    Take care. Xx

  • Hi Well done......bear with it and before you know it will be all over. Before, during and shortly after sore bum and pooing was very painful particularly during and shortly after treatment. Week 5 and 6 were the worst for me. But, don't panic! Its only a short time and before you know it recovery sets in and you are pooing without the potty and weeing without the pain. I can sit comfortably on my bottom and everything feels so much better. Just remember 5 1/2 weeks isn't long and before you know it you'll be feel so much better. Good luck with treatment....we are all thinking of you! Love Mandy x
  • Sorry forgot to say......best of luck with your mum....thats all you need! hoping that she has a speedy recovery.....thinking of you. Mandy x

  • Hiya Lynne, I am 3 weeks post treatment finish now. All the broken skin has healed, the painfull wee only lasts about a week after treatment finished. The pooing is another matter, although my bum has more or less healed, I do not just go to the loo and can forget about it for the rest of the day, I can go about 5 times each morning, then my bum "aches" for a while which goes down the back of my legs, so I've got into the habit of taking a painkiller, then everything settles down and I can feel normal. The other thing is , is the fatigue, I have bouts of that hitting me where I have to lay down for a couple of hours, I'm expecting all this to get better over time. I'm sorry to hear about your mom, I hope she's ok and it's nothing too serious, I'm thinking of you all all the time. Sue xx
  • Wow Lynne, nearly there and if it’s any consolation, I found the second chemo week to be easier than the first.

I am nearly 2 weeks out of treatment now, skin has healed well although still delicate, my wee is still painful, but bareable, pooing.... no pain to go, but frequency and urgency still causing me a few probs, I have felt good the last couple of days and done some housework, bit of shopping and spent time with family and friends. I’ve not ventured far or for long, as I don’t want to be caught short whilst out, although I do have an emergency bag just in case.

    Good luck, countdown is on!

I hope your mum is ok, keep us posted xxx

  • What a day arrived at the hospital this morning already for chemo, they did my blood pressure which was 92/54 and wouldn’t let chemo go ahead as BP too low. Have been there all day finally got home at 7pm have been filled with fluids and given Imodium it’s looks like the diarrhoea I had in the last 24 hours did for me.  They were going to keep me in but I was desperate to come home, they said ok providing I kept filling up with fluid and I have to go back in tomorrow morning to be re assessed. In bed now hoping all will go ahead as planned tomorrow.

  • PS didn’t get to see my Mum but hubby did, they are now looking at her bladder, bleeding does appear to be slowing down.
