Retired Hiring Manager/Recruiter. Moved back to Austin, TX after living on the coast for the past 7 years. Misdiagnosed by two doctors, one of which conducted a colonoscopy.
Tumor was quite large (Stage 3), growing upward, ulcerated, in the wall, in one lymph node and possibly in the vagina. Completed treatment 10/10/17. Results in early Feb. Was very frail when treatment started. Had a couple of set backs. Still underweight and fighting nausea and stomach cramps.
I'm now at 17 weeks post treatment. PET scan results showed inflammation, ulcerated area and the mass is still there; however, but the mass is much smaller. NO CANCER CELLS detected! Some areas are still raw and need to heal. The radiation will continue to work for another 6 months or longer. Another scan down the road to check progress. Was having severe stomach cramps and nausea for weeks. After trying numerous anti-nausea medications with no success, my docs kept referring me to each other and finally suggested a gastro doc. I still get nauseated at times, but it comes in waves and not as often. I am able to be more active now and feeling more encouraged.
