The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Lol.... well I def didn’t take pics of reports ha ha. But... you’re the one who knows tha stage :-) x

  • Sandra ...Just wondered if spurs read your first page thread and answered that ... I wonder if she knows how to get to last posts ... just a thought ..

thanks cournish ... Will look on thread. . Looked back on my notes , app I'm her negative ... but a lot more info there so still confused ...  Will have to goggle it ... think l was just wanting to live in the day, and not look back ... but thanks for helping ...

So here's to a good week girls ... Riley an jbains ..... got my grandkids tomoz , can't wait ... didn't have them last week as bank hol so really missed them ...

So glad worriorqueen is o.k ... wouldn't be the same with out her ...

  • I agree with the no looking back. It's all dependant on type of cancer tumour found and then activity of cells and where at time of diagnosis. It is good to understand it all at time required as I also researched and asked my team a lot of questions to understand it all. But for me, I would not look back but move forward. Reliving those old feelings isn't sthg I would want. Always onwards and upwards.....
  • Hi hun

i understand staging... just never told mine. Agree it is what it is... always thought that anyway- just wondering if anyone else just given grade nd no stage.

Down to my last letter to GP after routine check up in April says - reviewed for bifocal 12mm and 13mm grade2, ER positive, HER2 negative, node negative tumour. All my letter say same no mention at all of stage nor was I told.

Do I need to know this for when I apply for example holiday insurance... when u applied for yrs jbains were u asked this.

so.. just wonder if anyone else not told:-) were u given your staging?

Let’s face it I can call nd ask.... but just wondered if really needed or if others not told :-)

    x

  • Yea mine was like that too ... that's why l wanted to know, as when l reply to others, I'm sure I've put I'm a stage 3sometimes, thinking it meant the same as grade ... I just didn't want to say I'd got something I might not have ... I'm good with stuff, just curious ... we'll have to ask, Sandra, just for curiosity .. really weird ...

So here's to another week ... hope its a good one peeps  ; ))

  • Morning ladies, I have a question wonder if any of you could advise please. I am now 11 days post op, I have been changing dressing, but just wonder when do the steri strips come off as still firmly on?? I wasn’t told when I left hospital just to keep changing dressing but then I wasn’t quite with it! Thank you x
  • Took mine off after 8 days.

  • thank you wasn’t sure didn’t want to take them off to soon x

  • I tried at 7 days ( when I was told to take dresss off) but oh my we’re they stuck solid. So had shower nd let them get wet ( opposite to the keep em dry keep em dry lol)... then next day had 3 more ( I think) showers again letting them get wet. Then saw the ends had curled up so could get a hold... then I gently pulled em off.

i had like cats whiskers ( what they stitched me up with)  at each end of my boob nd nodes scars ..., I didn’t know what f do with them ... so left cos was seeing surgeon for post op results the next couple of days. He snipped the ends off in boob ones nd just pulled the node one out.

When do u see yr surgeon for yr results x
