The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • I know what u mean Chrissie. I knew there was a difference but I have never been given a stage just a grade. All my GP copy letters refer to grade with no mention of stage either. X

  • Hello ladies! Been galavanting in Reading! Sandra new film for you to see - Infinity Wars absolutely fabulous! First day back at work tomorrow at 8 am straight into manager's meeting! Hope my mate has foresight to get some cakes in!

Got my margin results on Tuesday. Been slathering my boob in moisturiser in prep for radiotherapy. Prob in a few weeks. Wonder if they will start me on Tamoxifen before radiithrtsoy? If yes at least I know from you gals to take it at night.... with an alcoholic night cap??? Lol!

Love to all and welcome to new kids on block x

  • Hi Sandra. l had my lumpectomy and lymphnode removal on Friday 11th May. today is the 13th. Because l had a chest infection and only one of my lungs work..l had to have it all done by local anaesethetic. l went to theatre at 1pm...by two it was all over and l was in the recovery room eating 2 cheese sandwhiches and having a cup of tea. No sickness. At 4pm. l was dressed and walking to car park on my way home. I'm just 2 days on now. My breast is a bit swollen and tender, but not painful. l'm being sensible, but doing little activities..not overdoing it. The operation is nothing to be fearful of, but naturally you will be anxious. Put your faith in the doctor and nurses, they are there for you and very dedicated and kind.

    Warm welcome Spurs x

  • Hiya Spurs! Well done and you got this!
  • There u are :-)

ee work tomorrow eh... all the luck me dear :-)

oooh I know me nd 2 daughters have just agreed t see infinity wars eeek can’t wait.

its lucky dip apparently for when u start ya meds! I was given mine by surgeon when I got my op results but others not! I’m the same - take mine at 9:00pm ( just thought I might sleep through the side effects- this is just Sandra’s logic lol).

Good to hear from u :-) good luck for tomorrow x

  • It s ok bless. I knew about staging but..,just never ever been given it nd like I say it’s not in any of my Gp copy letters ( I looked for it as I got them). Everyone always referred to it by grade .... Grade 2 due to one lump being lobular.  They basically said you are grade 2 and we are going to remove the cancers with a curative aim and attention to body image.

So.... anyone else out there just been given grade rather than stage.

Eee cornishpastie what have u started lol ;-) x

  • Lol Sandra.. .I'm such a trouble maker.

I think I probably know more about mine than I would as I took photos of the histopathologybteports then researched the contents before next appointments and then asked more questions lol
