The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hello! Wow it’s been awhile! Sorry to hear about your call back - pls keep us posted. I shall keep you in my prayers. Just remember you did it before and you’ll do it again - you’ve got this

Wedding prep is in full swing over here - July 3rd is kickoff! I’ve done my 10 years and celebrated and cried. After the last diagnosis in 2021 didn’t think I was going to make it but woo hoo!!!! Thankfully I don’t need to be put on anything else and will take that last tablet after the wedding.

Hope you all are trying to enjoy the sunshine and taking one day at a time and to the fullest.

We survived but doesn’t mean this body of ours isn't without complications and tough trying to live a normal life. But we’ve got this!

  • Hello Sandra lovely to hear from you. Thank you. Just thought I would reach out but wasn't sure if anyone was still on here! Hope life has been treating you well x

  • Hi Jbains lovely to hear from you. How exciting a July wedding! Hope it goes well. Feeling a bit better just sharing the news on here. My husband is in a state of shock like me bless him. But whatever happens we will deal with it. One day at a time. We go on holiday 8th may to Norwegian fjords cruising for 14 nights nothing is standing in that way! X

  • Hello

I had my appointment today and sadly not the quick in and out I was hoping for. Had another mammogram then ultrasound scan then a cyst drained then 3 biopsies taken and a marker put in. Now on way to Southampton for holiday . Results when I get home.

I have a quick question. Didn't have a marker put in last time. Is it a sign they are thinking of an operation is to follow? X

  • Talk to the team. See what they recommend. Either way keep us posted. Good luck.

  • Hi Beachbabe,

I am surprised that you didn't have a marker inserted last time. Most of us get a marker inserted as a routine. This helps the care team to locate the suspect area, if they need to find it again. If it's not needed, it doesn't cause any harm.

I am delighted to hear that you managed to get seen before you went away.

It sounds fairly positive that you have had a cyst removed, as these don't usually cause any problems and tend to be benign. Were the biopsies taken from the area of the cyst? If so, hopefully they were taken to reassure you that this is the case and there is no cancer present. It will be frustrating having to wait until you return to get the results. In the meantime I hope that you have a fabulous cruise and enjoy the Norwegian fjords.

Please keep us posted when you get back.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
