The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

    Hi Dizzle,

This is fantastic news - not that the hearing has been postponed, but that you and Jamie are hoping to get back together. I shall be thinking of you next Thursday and hope that things go as well as they possibly can.

Good on you for keeping sober for amost 4 months now. Keep up that resolve even if things don't go well on Thurday, as I expect that the social workers will be looking for the slightest slip up. I'm glad to hear that you are happy enough to stay in the shared house to concentrate on your recovery and hope that it won't be long before you can all be back home together. I am delighted to hear that you are seeing the kids more frequently - I'm sure that they've been missing you terribly.

As you already know, I'm here for you any time you want to talk.

    Keep safe and stay strong.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Evening Everyone

Dizzle glad to see your are getting to see more of your children and that you are doing well. Keep going proud of you x

Mum had her operation today and they got the ***** out! Just need results now to confirm it hasn't spread. Mum was so brave bless her. 8 stitches later she is home. Although her face starting to swell and her right eye nearly closed she seems to be ok. Been a long day and we are both shattered but hopefully we will sleep better tonight.

Big hugs to you all xx

    Hi Beachbabe,

Thank you for the update. I'm so glad that  your Mum's procedure is over - just the wait for results now. Did they tell her when they would be back? It is good news that the stitches look nice and neat. I had this procedure a few years ago and the plastic surgeon did such a neat job that you can no longer see the scars. Fortunately, in my case, although the doctors were convinced that it was sinister, it all turned out to be benign in the end. I'm hoping and praying that your Mum has the same outcome.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi all. Hope everyone is doing ok and trying to enjoy this weather we are having.

Beachbabe - glad mom is on the radar and being treated. Fingers crossed for results!

Dizzle - glad to hear you are on the up and seeing your precious children. Keep going - you've got this!

I have now signed up for Race for Life and vow to do so every year of my life I have left! Now sitting on 2 committees at my hospital which are in cancer care. I may not be able to work but will make a mark for certain. So many changes have already taken place with regards to patient care in cancer services and am happy and proud that I was able to put in my two bits! Hopefully this will disseminate out to all regions of UK.

The sun is out and enjoy your day!

    Hi Jbains,

Glad to hear that you have set your next challenge and hope that you're getting plenty of practice in on these lovely days.Getting involved in cancer services via the hospital is a great way to make changes from a cancer perspective - something that is much needed - go girl! Wel done!

    Hi Beachbabe,

I'm delighted to hear that your Mum had a good night last night and is not too sore today. I really had no bother with mine. I got the stitches removed the following week and all healed beautifully.

Good for you doing race for life - wish that I could join you, but I can hardly put one foot in front of the other to walk - two replacement knees don't help!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Really glad your mother is feeling okay and slept well. Hope things go smoothly from now on.

I'll do a walk if i can use scooter, I've no chance otherwise, unless it's all downhill and plenty of seating on the course.

    Take care of yourself .

    Love Billy xxxx
