The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Thanks Sandra

despite lockdown it was a lovely day. Just 2 witnesses then a couple of friends for lunch at the Wetherspoons. They bent the rules a bit for us so we were able to have a good 6 pints before leaving then came home for a bit with everyone and went and stayed in a hotel. Best day ever!

had a pretty rubbish weekend as my little dog I had to get rehomed was in the local paper having been filmed being kicked and punched, neck stood on etc by her owner. She was laying on the floor whimpering and squealing as he threw her across the garden by the scruff of her neck. I'm so so angry. The home I let her go to was lovely but they obviously passed her onto some vile excuse of a human. What makes it worse is he got 150 hrs community service and a 2 year ban from owning pets. He needs stringing up!!! Thankfully we tracked her down to rspca stubbington and they've assured me she's absolutely fine and ready to go to her new home.

lillie doing good aswell. Put on a bit of weight today which I'm happy with.
really hope everyone is ok..... sorry my appearance is a bit sporadic on here but sometimes life can just get in the way lol.

love to you all. Dizzle x

  • Hi dizzle and congratulations on getting married,. Really glad things went well All through the day even some alcohol to keep everyone happy (maybe tipsy as well). really glad Lillie is putting on weight that's a great relief for you.hope your not changing your username now.

Those people who ill treat any animal should be treated the same as they did to the animal and fined thousands and banned from having any pets for life.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hello all. Congrats Dizzle on wedding and Lillie putting on weight! Well done you for coming thru all that testing and challenging time.

I have now finished radiation treatment a week ago and am now dealing with the after effects but thank god it's over! Woo hoo! It was bit easier going thru it thanks to anti sickness meds, strong painkillers and duration. Hopefully it's all behind me now. Start tamoxifen today so let's see how we go.

My daughter and I celebrated with a couple of donuts from Donut Time and champagne! It was awful just walking to that cancer centre and sitting in that waiting room with eyes that looked so scared as I looked around all just waiting for your name to appear on that board. I managed to hold my breath for 40 seconds at a time by the third day - if only I could swim....

  •

    Hi Jbains,

I am delighted to hear that you've managed to get to the end of your radiotherapy and hope that the after-effects are not too nasty. Here's hoping that the Tamoxifen does the trick and prevents the cancer from recurring this time. I agree that it's not a pleasant experience sitting waiting for your name to be called and looking at all the other worried faces. Still, well done you for getting through it all - you're a real trouper!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Evening everyone,

Just thought I would pop along and say hello. Been ages since I have been on here just catching up on all the news. The good and the bad. Sending big hugs out to you all.

It 2 years today since I found you all where has the time gone?? So much has happened to us all over that time.

Hope everyone has avoided covid and are all getting their jabs done. I had mine and must admit it hit me for 6. Took me 3 days to get over it but if that was just a slight taste of what covid is like glad I had the jab to keep it away. Really felt like I had been hit by a bus.

Snow again today here on East Coast but summer must be on its way now! Think that would cheer us all up.

Hugs again you lovely people xx

  • Oh my Dizzel... what a horrendous thing to have to witness with you rehomed dog. Inadequate people who can only feel good about themselves by beating up a defenceless small dog. I hope someone gives em what they deserve.

ah... I'm so glad to hear lily is doing well ️

I love that you had a small wedding... too much money spent on big extravagant weddings ... no need. Yours sounds perfect ️

  • I'm so glad to hear this lass. Onwards and upwards ...once again you have looked it in the eye and stared it down ️

your celebration sounds absolutely perfect....mother daughter bonds ..nothing can compete with that.

keep warm and rest up lass.... it's all about you and what you want ️

  • Eeee lovely to hear from you beachbabe. Hope you are doing well. How's your mum too. I had the jab and it floored me but just for 24 hrs.... waiting form my 2 nd jab now.

we too have snow here in the north east...it's Baltic.

It doesn't matter that you are getting on with life rather than come on here...totally get that. I also love when names of old pop on here for a quick catch-up....great to hear from you x

  • Evening peeps

the bad: honestly it's blinking freezing here... roll on warmer weather.

the good:- family came to my back garden for a sorely missed meet up. It was cold bit sunny.... greatly helped by lighting the fire pit lol. A good time was had by all ️
hope everyone has had as good a day as they can x

  • Hi everyone
Sorry  I've not been around much lately. I hope everyone is doing well despite the freezing weather and covid.

it's my first face to face check up for over a year as  because of the pandemic I've just had telephone calls. Well I say face to face...I really mean face to nether regions. I'm a bit nervous. It's now three years since my diagnosis but such a lot has happened in the meantime.

Hubby had his colon removed and a stoma fitted in 2018 because of his ulcerative colitis, then he had four spells in hospital with kidney stones at the end of 2019. Then the pandemic stepped in and appointments and scans were rare.  In January of this year, he was admitted to hospital with acute kidney injury and severe dehydration. We were told he was 48 hours from complete kidney failure. He spent six weeks in hospital where he caught covid. Fortunately he was asymptomatic but it surely held up recovery. When he came home I didn't recognise him, he'd grown s beard and lost several stones in weight. Of course I had not been allowed to visit. He was not at all well at home and clearly it was not just a problems with his stoma which had caused the dehydration. After four weeks at home and after a blood test he was called urgently back into hospital for a further ten days. There they carried out a kidney biopsy , changed his meds and sent him home. Initial results of the biopsy show that he may have a rare blood disorder which is causing a build up of protein in his kidneys, so he's back over the next two weeks to see a harmotologist and for s bone marrow biopsy. He's been told the condition is not curable but there are treatments. It has been a very tough last three months for the whole family.

In better news we've had a new puppy called Teddy (see my new avatar)

Stay safe all and hugs all round.

    Sundial
