The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

    Hi Dizzle,

This is fantastic news. It is lovely to have one of each. This is what we have.

It is a great treat to able to buy 'girly' things. Boys also grow up a little slower than girls, so we found that our two seemed like  the same age with similar interests when growing up. It's good to hear that Jamie and Grace are so happy at the prospect of a little girl too.

Four months will be here before you know it.

I'm absolutely delighted for you all.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Woop woop Dizzle....

A little girl for girlie chats when she grows up .. and a sister for Grace ....and vinny ...  shame we can't put firework emojies on here ... so setting off lots of vertual "it's a girl" fireworks....

Must av been scary you passing out ... but fingers crossed all well now ...

Well Sandra hope your o.k ... thinking of you all ... keep safe all ...  Chrissie

  • Hi all.

Hope everyone is well and safe.

    Love to all Billy xxx

    Hi Billy,

I sincerely hope that your oncologist can push you in this month and reduce your wait. When do you expect your results back?

I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you too.

    Stay safe.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine.

Got phone call while shopping at morrisons, Fri 24th 3.15 it certainly pays to get in touch with Dr to see if anything can be done about appointment dates.

Hope you are as well as can be and being careful.

Brens having a perm today at home (hopefully) with her not being mobile might cause problems have to see.my treat of course.

    Hi Billy,

I'm glad to hear that you've got a date. There is no doubt at all that it definitely helps to get in touch with the doctor to sort out appointment dates.

I hope that Bren's perm went well and, was fairly problem free today. I'm sure that she'll feel much better to have this done.

I can't wait for next week, as have my first hairdressing appointment in months next Tuesday.

I am being as careful as possible, although I've had to get back to work,  as two of my staff are off on sick leave. Still, I have as many precautions in place as I possibly can. I've just got to be careful, as hubby has heart failure and is still shielding.

    Love,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine.

Good luck with your shop open again shame you've got workers off ill. So definitely be careful.

Bren didn't get perm, just a gentle wash and curl hairdresser said bren needs to have her head over a sink to rinse perm completely out, with bren not being able to stand or support herself it's not possible, luckily I've found some plastic sinks what fit round your neck sitting upright with a pipe on the back so water goes into a bowl on the floor, so hopefully next time bren can have a perm..

Also bren sits a lot and I've found some air cushions so it's adjustable in pressure to find best comfort.

    Hi Billy,

Sorry to hear that Bren didn't get her perm today, but I understand the problem. When my mother-in-law could no longer stand, I got her an inflatable hair washing bowl, which the carers could use to wash her hair in. This was a blow up basin that could be used when she was lying in bed. It had a plug to empty the water when finished. We found this so much safer than trying to hold her up, whilst we tried to wash her hair. Even without a perm, I'm sure that Bren will be feeling so much better to have her hair washed.

The air cushions sound like a good idea, but these should be being supplied for her by the NHS. We were given these for my Mum-in-law to prevent bed sores.

I'm being as careful as I can at work and, have as many safeguards in place as possible. I must say that I'll be glad to see my workers back.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
