The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Sandra.

I'm still fine, doing things for bren today, sorting out some other meds bren shouldn't have been put on got in touch with psychiatrist instead of Dr things get done quicker than they are having a meeting Wed so should know Thursday if they say no I'm going to play merry hell because she should never have been on them in the first place,. Years ago specialist says take this you do but now we know the damage its caused to bren over the years. 14 to be exact. So waiting to see what they say..

Sorry just letting of steam again.

    Love to all.. Billy... Xxx

  • Love the wood work Sandra you could sell them in the shops people would pay good money for them..

I'm fine and good fettle today bit stressed yesterday, but got to get bren sorted something to consontrate on and nothing else matters.

I've also taken bren off her parkinsons meds she was shaking alot more and shouting out and couldn't consontrate alot of the time day and night, that's stopped now.

  • Hi all

I'm wrong again. Bren started shouting and shaking later, a friend said put bren back on them and call Dr, which i did Dr said keep her on them and give her sleeping tabs in the day to keep her calm until meds get working properly so brens drugged up day and night. Doesn't make sense to me. But just have to hope it works out OK,

Have to take her off them now and again to see what she's like. And order more meds going through them twice as quick..

Be nice if Dr came to see bren might have done different.

    Love to all.... Billy xxx

    Hi Billy,

This is certainly not the news we hoped to hear from you. It is heartbreaking to have to drug a loved one in this way. When did you last have her GP out to see her? It would definitely be more reassuring for you if s/he came out to see her occasionally.

Hang on in there and, don't be afraid to ask for a home visit if needed. I'm sure that your district nurse could come out to assess her if nothing else. You are doing all you can, under very difficult circumstances and, we are all right there behind you.

Thinking of you and hoping and praying that she settles.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi jolamine.

Last Dr to see bren was about Feb. About something completely different since then thave retired, the ones left are not very good.

Bren only started these new meds about three weeks ago but only started having trouble middle of last week, just hoping they work as should.

    Hope you're keeping well.

    Love... Billy xxx

    Hi Billy,

I sincerely hope that these new meds work for Bren. It is always difficult when a doctor retires. We had the same problem with my parents in law and eventually had to change practice.

It is particularly difficult to get a doctor out to see her with the pandemic, but, if she starts having trouble again, do request a visit. We had carers coming in 3 times a day and the district nurse popping in to see my mother in law every week. She was the only one who was able to change her medication. It verges on the criminal not to have seen Bren since February. What has happened to 'Duty of Care?'

I'm keeping well thanks - better than I've been for a while.

Fingers crossed that things improve for you both.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Bren has carers morning only, to help to wash bren she can't stand with out someone holding her up no strength in legs and no balance. Usto come 4times daily but apart from clearing commode nothing else to do. Community nurse comes every 6 months to check for bed sores and things. That's it. When virus clear we'll have mental health nurse coming.

    Love.. Billy.. Xxx
